This book surprised me, I did not know what it would be like and what kind of book it was! I was pleasantly startled when I found out that it was a book (or 6 ebooks if you read it on a kindle) about a Fae world and its rulers. This book delves into emotion, tragedy, rebellion, and redemption—a beautiful twist that had me on the edge of my seat! The book focuses on a Fae Princess named Quinn who, after discovering she has a forbidden power, runs and hides as a pirate on the seas of Feylan. When strange circumstances lead Quinn back to her home country, she finds out her twin brother has died, and she must take his place in a competition for the Faerie throne.
Tasked with becoming the next Fae Queen and challenging four other Fae heirs for it, Quinn finds herself struggling to understand her hidden magic and its connection with the other heirs. Through trial and error, Quinn manages to uncover a plot to destroy her world and her people. She and the other competitors must join forces to stop the threat before all is lost.
I loved this story because it was so unique! It was almost like The Pirate Fairy (like the Tinkerbell movie!) but with prophecies, merpeople, and mystical forbidden powers! I loved the hidden romance and the characters’ struggle for freedom. My favorite was the dagger that split in half to form two daggers–I actually have something similar in my book I’m currently writing!
This book was so original and had so much great description and internal and external struggles. I loved every second of it! It was clean, and easy to understand. I would suggest it in a heartbeat!
The only thing that bothered me were the images of the characters before each trial; the pictures didn’t seem to fit each character’s description, and they looked way older than they actually were. The artwork makes me want to take half a star from the 5 star rating that I would give the story. However, it doesn’t really matter what the pictures look like as long as the characters are amazing and the plot keeps me intrigued!
