This painting was inspired by my love of the night sky. I love stargazing and trying to spot shooting stars. I also love just staring at one specific star and trying to guess what color it would be if I had a telescope, or if it is a Sun to other planets. If it is a Sun, I like to think about what those other planets are like, and if they have life forms on them.
One of the biggest things on my bucket list is seeing the Northern lights. I want to know what it looks like in real life– if they are every color of the rainbow, or just blue and green. I want to know if they move or if they hover in the same spot each night. Most of all, I want to know how magnetism affects the Northern lights and why they only appear near the North and South poles. Someday I will travel to see the Northern lights to experience them for myself, and not just paint them.
Writing this post actually gave me an idea, just the barest thought, of a future story that could be called Just a Galaxy Away. I don’t have any other ideas, just the title of the book. Sometimes it’s like that. You don’t know what’s going to happen before you start writing. The trick is to sit down and start writing.
Sometimes we’re too scared to try new things. Sometimes we are afraid of the unknown. Sometimes we don’t want to leave the safety of our homes. But if we say no to those feelings, and we go and do it anyway, that is when the true magic happens.
You can find inspiration anywhere, like in the stars and the Northern lights and the entire galaxy. I’ve even found inspiration in simply folding laundry. Let your mind flow with ideas and let your imagination run wild.
Stay magical,
