{POSSIBLE SPOILERS} I am not usually a big fan of vampires and supernaturals. However, this book just got me! I loved the characters, the plot, and the descriptions! Written by K.M. Shea, this books is the first in the Magiford Supernatural City Series. There are three books in each subseries, and there are about four or five subseries. However, each subseries is its own series and doesn’t lead to the next one, so if you don’t want to read a huge series, this is for you!

This book is Book 1 of all of the subseries and I would recommend reading it first. This book is a great opener for this world. It defines everything you need to know without being overwhelming, and leaves room for the imagination too! Although it is the first book in the series, you do not have to read it in order to move on to the other subseries. There is no true order to the subseries, so you can choose which story you want to follow next!

This book follows the path of two supernaturals; Jade, a vampire slayer, and Connor (Considine), an elder vampire. Jade and Connor are neighbors in the same apartment, and soon become friends despite being a vampire and a vampire slayer. However, by night, Jade scouts and protects the city as part of the Curia Cloisters (the magical police), and soon meets a destructive vampire new to the city who bullies anyone who tries to take over his territory (Considine). Neither Jade nor Connor realize that they are fighting each other in the nighttime, and while their relationship grow even closer during the day, there are other attacks on the city that they both have to deal with. With options narrowing and their desperate need for help, Jade and Connor are forced to work together to solve the attacks on their city.

This gripping narrative keeps readers on the edge of their seats as Jade and Connor accidentally reveal clues and drop hints, leading to the eventual discovery of each other’s identities!

In this book, there is absolutely no spice. It is all clean content, clean romance. This book is YA fiction, but young teens and tweens would love it too! I’d recommend an age range of 12-adult.

I would give this book 5 stars!!! I loved it!

If you love forbidden romance, vampires, vampire slayers, or magic in general, you need to read this book! This is definitely one of my favorites by far. I love K.M. Shea’s style and ideas! Her magical way of storytelling draws readers in and immerses them in new and incredible tales!
